The Team

Juan Alexander Castillo R. practiced law and political science for more than 50 years. His career spanned litigation, the judiciary, legislative advisory work, and municipal affairs.

He earned his degree in Law and Political Science from the Universidad de Panamá in 1973. From the start, his career rested on a solid legal foundation and extensive trial experience, especially in labor, civil, and criminal law. His practice was also closely tied to municipal and legislative matters.

In 1975, he founded Castillo, Sanjur & Del Río, where he built a key stage of his career and deepened his experience as a practicing attorney. From 1982 to 1984, he served as an advisor to the president of the Assembly of Corregimiento Representatives, providing legal guidance on legislative and public administration matters.

From 1985 to 1990, he served in the Judicial Branch of the Republic of Panama as a Superior Court Judge for the Third and Fourth Judicial Districts. In that role, he handled both civil and criminal cases and brought his legal expertise to the administration of justice.

In 2021, he founded MCA Despacho Jurídico, where he kept sharing his experience and knowledge with the profession. In this new chapter, he excelled in procedural, labor, administrative, civil, criminal, constitutional, and tax law. He provided high-level legal counsel and gave his clients the benefit of his broad experience and deep technical knowledge.

He was also committed to scholarship throughout his career. He wrote numerous legal and academic articles that helped shape the analysis and discussion of issues related to law and Panama’s institutional life.
